The Civic/Environmental Committee is continuing its inexorable move into every aspect of town life.
Yesterday 15 members together with family and friends ― including two new provisionals who only signed up the day before ― answered the call from Lisa Johnson (shown ar right) Director of Montclair's Department of Sustainability, to plant over 600 native plant plugs outside the forbidding Church Street parking lot.
The current garden is such a success that Lisa got a grant to expand it even further. Since they are natives, these tiny perennials will expand their deep roots, retaining water and creating a garden that will flourish for years to come. Sustainability!
Onward and upward!
